For those who rejoice at the annual reveal of their most played tracks on Spotify, we’re excited to share Your Mountain: December 2023 Wrapped – a recap of this month’s summative conditions, notable events, most-rode lifts, and more!

While tides may have been low across the nation this December, spirits have remained high at Bogus Basin as we wrapped up our first full-month of mountain operations for the Winter 2023/24 season. Let’s run it back!



COMMUNITY

This December:

  • 68,896 of you visited the mountain.
  • 66,930 of you rode Downhill on skis or a board.
  • 17,054 of you rode under the lights, opting in for twilight and moonlit runs.
  • 1,966 of you skied Nordic.
  • You took 29,200 runs on December 16th, marking the most laps of any day of the season thus far.
  • You attended 4 free, community events: The Skiathlon, Nordic Fest, Guided Snowshoe Tour, and Santa on the Mountain

This December:

  • You rode the lifts 425,834 times.
  • Your favorite lift was Deer Point Express– which you rode 192,367 times this December– followed by Morning Star Express (128,704), Coach (52,358), and The Explorer Terrain Park Conveyor (38,483).
  • Meanwhile, you enjoyed 23″ of fresh* pow and 273 hours of access to fun, affordable mountain recreation at your local mountain.

*Plus, Bogus Basin set new snowmaking records this month, turning 9,302,021 gallons of repurposed water into snow– equivalent to a football field 21.6′ tall– to keep you riding all December-long!

YOUR MOUNTAIN PROFILE

Those of you who frequented the mountain this December earned yourselves the rightful title of Mountain Minimalist. We saw you out here doing the most with less, embracing low tides with unequivocal fervor, and reminding the rest of us that inches are just a unit of measurement. Plus, let’s not forget: you still pray for snow like a maximalist. Thanks for that.

About Bogus Basin
Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin winter operations offer 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain and 200+ acres for night skiing; eleven lifts – including four high-speed quads – and three people-mover surface lifts; an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails. Environmental education and community outreach programs serve over 20,000 individuals annually, primarily youth. Bogus Basin is located 16.5 miles north of Boise, Idaho, and operates under a special use permit with the Boise National Forest.

Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is one of the largest non-profit recreation areas in the country. It is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Bogus Basin summer activities include a challenge course, mountain coaster, summer tubing, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, gem panning station, The Basin Gravity Park, cross-country mountain biking and hiking, free community events and educational programs, chairlift service to access hiking and biking trails, and guided nature hikes.
