Faces of Bogus Basin | Joe Kennedy

In this edition of The Faces of Bogus Basin, we’re thrilled for you to get to know Joe Kennedy, Mountain Operations Manager at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area.

Joe Kennedy, Mountain Operations Manager

Joe Kennedy began working at Bogus Basin as a lift operator in 2010. In 2019, he was promoted to Lift Operations Manager, and worked closely with his team to develop, refine, and implement lift safety policies around the mountain.

Joe was promoted from Lift Operations Manager to Mountain Operations Manager in June 2026. In his new role, he has taken on many additional responsibilities, including overseeing night operations during the winter season and working closely with teams across the mountain, from Snowmaking to Patrol.

In addition to his work on the mountain, Joe is on the Steering Committee for the PNW Ski Areas Association conference and trade show. The event brings a wide range of ski area representatives together for an opportunity to attend workshops, engage with peers and leaders from other mountains, as well as learn about innovative practices within the industry. As a Steering Committee member, Joe helps manage the Lift Operation Education Track, overseeing and instructing Lift Operations Management courses.

“Joe is passionate about everything Bogus Basin, and has been instrumental to the success of the Lift Operations department’s ongoing work to keep our guests safe on the lifts. We are excited to watch Joe bring his knowledge and experience into his new managerial role. Congratulations Joe!”

Nate Shake, Director of Mountain Operations

When asked about his favorite part of working at Bogus Basin, Joe had a tough time choose just one thing. “I love being outside in the mountains and building connections across the industry, whether it’s mentoring first-year lift operators at Bogus Basin or collaborating with teams from other ski areas.”

“While most of his work happens behind the scenes, Joe’s contributions to Bogus Basin are felt all around the mountain. His strong work ethic, deep expertise, and steadfast focus on a positive guest experience ensure that our mountain remains safe and welcoming for all guests and employees.”

Brad Wilson, General Manager

Joe’s tenure at Bogus Basin reflects the deep dedication and commitment shared by much of the team.

We are very appreciative of the care and expertise that Joe brings to his role all year-round.

Next time you see Joe Kennedy and his loyal pup, Alpine around the mountain, be sure to say hello!
