Events

Bogus Basin kicked off summer with the Boise Mountain Bike Festival on July 1st, hosting 1,300 guests and 35 vendors. From there, the mountain biking season was in full swing! Bogus Basin hosted 16 Community Race Series Events in July and August, with over 1,000 registered racers. Bogus Basin welcomes racers of all ages and ability levels, including adaptive athletes, to participate in the Community Race Series. The Basin Gravity Park, the Treasure Valley’s only lift-served downhill mountain bike park operated daily from 11 am – 7 pm through mid-August, transitioning to weekend operations through October 1st. The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) Championship brought the mountain biking season at Bogus Basin to a close, with nearly 1,200 student racers competing.

The fun didn’t stop at mountain biking! Bogus Basin hosted 40 free Yoga on the Mountain events for over 650 visitors on Saturday and Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings throughout the summer. Local musicians played live music every weekend at Bogus Basin, weather permitting. In total, Bogus Basin hosted 25+ FREE live music shows for the enjoyment of summer visitors.

In alignment with our mission to provide year-round mountain education to the Treasure Valley, The Bogus Basin Environmental Education team offered 35+ opportunities for visitors to connect with the natural mountain environment. Guided Nature Programs provided an opportunity for the community to connect with the natural beauty of Bogus Basin. The Bogus Basin Stewardship and Sustainability team hosted 3 volunteer seed-collecting opportunities, which allowed the community to support Bogus Basin’s restoration and revegetation project. This summer, 63 volunteers collected 2,500g of native seeds for restoration projects on the mountain.

“In partnership with the Boise National Forest’s Lucky Peak Nursery, millions of seeds will be cleaned, sorted, and germinated with the goal of using the seedlings in future volunteer planting events at Bogus Basin.”

NON-PROFIT PARTNERSHIPS

Bogus Basin continues to create and foster positive relationships with non-profits in the Treasure Valley. This summer, Bogus Basin welcomed mentors and mentees from The Mentoring Network, located out of Nampa. Attendance at The Boise Contemporary Theater’s third annual Reading on the Mountain nearly doubled. Other non-profit community partners include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Idaho Office for Refugees, and Girl Scouts.

New Additions

This summer, we welcomed a new opportunity for guests to reach new heights; 55ft high to be exact! The new Mineshaft Challenge Course, available for guests 7+, is a 3-story aerial adventure course, with features that increase in difficulty at each level, finishing with an auto belay drop or two zip line rides. The brand-new Mineshaft Challenge Course was a hit with our visitors this summer and will reopen for high-altitude thrill-seekers next summer.

The “From The Top” Mural by Sector Seventeen is the newest capital improvement unveiled at Bogus Basin this summer. The eye-catching mural, located on the previously nondescript maintenance building outside of Simplot Lodge, embodies Bogus Basin’s connection to mountain recreation and education. We are eagerly awaiting to see the colors pop when surrounded by snow this winter!
