The steep population growth in the Treasure Valley has increased the demand for winter recreation at Bogus Basin in the past 5 years. In response, we began limiting the number of lift tickets sold on any given day, to preserve the guest experience, particularly at peak times. Since, we’ve focused on finding new ways to manage guest capacity by encouraging visits during off-peak periods.
Thanks to night operations, Bogus Basin offers unusually long operating hours, at 12-13 hours/day. An analysis of guest data revealed that few guests stay at the mountain from open to close; in fact, most visits to the area are no longer than 6 hours.
Considering guest arrival times, length of stay, and the fact that visitation drops off in the evening, we saw an opportunity to create a new lift ticket category. The Night Session offers 4 hours of access (from 5 – close) at an extremely budget-friendly price. Guests to the area now have three different sessions to choose from:
- Day Session | Open – 5 pm | (8 – 9 hours of access)
- Twilight Session | 3 pm – Close | (up to 6 hours of access)
- Night Session | 5 pm – Close | (4 hours of access)
About Bogus Basin Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin offers 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain and 200 acres for night skiing, seven chairlifts and three conveyor lifts, and an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails for skiing and snowshoeing. Environmental education and community outreach programs, primarily youth, serve over 20,000 individuals annually. Summer activities include The Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, The Mine Shaft Challenge Course, mountain biking, events, hiking and chairlift service for hike and bike transport.
