Snowmaking Numbers | January 2025

Sunshine & Snowmaking

2025 started on a snowy note – with 21 inches of fresh snow falling between January 1st and January 8th. In the weeks since, we’ve experienced a high and dry pressure system, bringing blue skies and cold temperatures, which are optimal conditions for making snow – and your team of Snow Sorcerers made it happen!

If you’ve been to the mountain recently, you know the conditions on groomed terrain have been off the hook! Below freezing temperatures maintained our 54″ base and gave us the perfect opportunity to stack up machine-made snow on some of your favorite runs.

Special shoutout to the Grooming Crew for delivering gorgeous, crisp corduroy all over the mountain this season!

“Your groomers get the Groomers of the Year award for doing the most with no snow in 3 weeks. I was up there yesterday and hit every lift, and there’s plenty of great skiing/boarding for everyone. Last week was just as good.”

While clear, dry days may not deliver fresh powder, they make for excellent grooming conditions and beautiful sunsets illuminating the mountain. Twilight laps have been magical under the pink and orange evening skies!

By The Numbers

Our water retention pond holds 13.67 million gallons of water. Last season (2023/24), we broke our own snowmaking record, making snow from 19.4 million gallons of water in just 17.8 days. We’ve surpassed that record this season already, and we’re still going!

Since November 1st, 2024, the team has:

  • Transformed 23,855,206 Gallons of Water to Snow
  • Operated 9,153 Machine Hours
  • Opened a top-to-bottom terrain park
  • Made snow on 17 runs, as well as the Tubing Hill

How could we use more water than we have in the pond? Great Question! Bogus Creek flows into the pond year-round, slowly replenishing it during the wintertime. When spring rolls around and the snow melts, water levels naturally rise, and refill the pond for future snowmaking!

Thank you, Snow SorcererS, Grooming TEAM, and Park Crew!

We appreciate the round-the-clock effort of our Snow Sorcerers, Grooming Team, and Park Crew for pushing their limits and breaking records this season. Next time you see a Snowmaker, Groomer, or Digger, make sure to thank them for their commitment to getting us out where we want to be: on the slopes and in the air.

Meteorologists predict a shift in the weather this weekend with a new storm system rolling in. Come up and enjoy those sunshine laps before the snow flies & we’re riding powder again!
