Bogus Basin Announces Bitterroot Chairlift Grand Opening, Full Lift Operations, and START OF Night Operations

With Up to 16 Additional Inches of Snowfall Forecasted This Week, Area Officials Are Ready to Expand to Full Operations on Tuesday, December 17th.

Boise, Idaho – December 16, 2024 – Bogus Basin announced today that all lifts will begin operating on Tuesday, December 17th, making the non-profit fully operational in time for the holiday season. The area was blanketed with 19 inches of snow over the weekend, setting the stage for a surprise early opening of the Pine Creek Express chairlift on Sunday. With fresh snow still falling, area officials are ready to celebrate the grand opening of the brand-new Bitterroot quad chair and open the Superior Express chairlift for the 2024/25 winter season.

“The weekend storm surpassed expectations, allowing us to expand terrain and fully open before the holidays. Our team has been looking forward to this moment – we can’t wait for the community to ride the new four-person Bitterroot chairlift, and experience the many upgrades we’ve made in that area, including extensive brush cutting, slope adjustments, and the introduction of a new run.”

Nate Shake, Director of Mountain Operations

The new Bitterroot chair, a four-person fixed-grip lift, will operate seven days a week. It is one of two lifts replaced at Bogus Basin over the summer and offers guests a smoother, more efficient ride. Its top terminal unloads near the northeast corner of Pioneer Lodge, improving access to services and amenities. Additionally, extensive brush clearing and thinning in the Bitterroot Basin have opened up more family-friendly off-piste terrain, expanding options for beginner to upper-intermediate skiers and snowboarders.

In addition to the expanded lift operations, Bogus Basin also announced that night operations begin this Friday, December 20th. This announcement is exciting news for evening guests, including Night Season pass holders, who enjoy unlimited access to more than 200 acres of lit terrain from 6 to 10 p.m nightly. Bogus Basin’s nighttime access has become increasingly popular in recent years, and the Night Season Pass offers the most affordable way for guests to enjoy season-long access to the area.

Starting Monday, December 23rd, Bogus Basin will transition into its holiday operating schedule, with lifts running daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. through January 3rd, except for a 4:30 p.m. close on December 24th. Beginning this Wednesday, December 21st, lift tickets for the upcoming holiday period are available for pre-purchase online 3 days before the desired use date.

Public transportation will also be available beginning December 23rd, with stops in Nampa, Meridian, Eagle, and Boise, making it easier for guests to access the mountain.
