Bogus Basin’s First Snowfall Arrives — Thousands of Pass Holders Still Need to Pick Up RFID Access Cards
Boise, Idaho – October 12th, 2025 – Bogus Basin announced today that the area has received the first snowfall of the season, with 1″ falling overnight and into the morning. With snow on the ground and winter weather in the forecast, the countdown to opening day is officially on — and limited terrain could open as early as November 8th, weather permitting.
As excitement builds for the new season, Bogus Basin is issuing a strong warning to all 2025/26 Winter Season pass holders: pick up your new RFID Access Card now or risk facing long lines and delayed access on your first day.
With thousands of passes still unclaimed, officials are urging the community to act quickly and avoid last-minute congestion at base area ticketing locations.
“We are excited to welcome the community back to the mountain for another winter of skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and more,” said Brad Wilson, General Manager. “With promising temperatures in the forecast, Bogus Basin could open on limited terrain as early as November 8th.”
Meteorologists predict a La Niña weather pattern through February 2026, which often brings colder temperatures and above-average snowfall to the region. The outlook has generated excitement among both staff and the community, as it points toward a strong start to the 2025/26 winter season.
“With below-average temperatures and above-average precipitation in the forecast, we’re looking at positive weather trends for substantial early-season snowmaking efforts.”
Rob Harmes, Slopes Manager
New RFID Access Cards Required This Season
All season pass holders are required to pick up new RFID Access Cards to load a lift – passes from previous years will not work. The change is due to the installation of a new point of sale system. This update replaces an outdated system, enhancing efficiency and improving the overall guest experience. Bogus Basin has communicated this update for several weeks via email, social media, and on-site signage, but a large number of passes remain unclaimed.
“We’ve been sharing this message across all of our channels, but time is running out,” said Wilson. “Picking up your pass now is the best way to make sure your season starts smoothly — with more time on the mountain and less time waiting in line.”
To avoid long wait times on opening weekend, pass holders are strongly encouraged to pick up their RFID cards in advance at the Downtown Sales Office, located at 2600 N Bogus Basin Rd., open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
Please Avoid Visiting the Mountain Until Operations Begin
As the mountain transitions into winter mode, Bogus Basin requests that the public refrain from visiting the area until operations officially begin. Mountain crews are actively preparing terrain, snowmaking is underway, and heavy equipment is in use.
