Winter 2024/25 Has Arrived
Bogus Basin kicked off the 2024/25 season on November 23rd, 2024, with the Grand Opening of the brand-new Coach quad chairlift, which was replaced during the summer, as well as The Explorer Terrain Park, Explorer Conveyor Lift, Easy Rider Conveyor Lift, and Discovery Conveyor Lift.
Shout out to the mountain team for delivering an opening day that featured 4 lifts, 30 acres of riding, and a terrain park with 16 features!
The Brand-New Coach Experience
The replacement of the 1980 YAN Coach two-person chairlift with an American-made 2024 four-person chairlift was a highly anticipated capital improvement for the community. This upgrade is particularly welcomed by newer skiers and snowboarders, who often found the long lift lines and short run times on peak days to be a challenge.
To enhance the experience of the brand-new chairlift, your Mountain Operations Crew spent the summer reshaping the landscape. Using heavy machinery—and even dynamite—they extended and expanded Coach’s Corner run. Now three times longer than the original, this beginner-friendly run features a gentle grade, providing ample space for new and intermediate riders to learn, practice, and gain confidence on the snow before progressing to other chairlifts.
We’d like to thank everyone who joined us for the Grand Opening of the Coach Chairlift and helped kick off the 2024/25 Winter Season with great vibes!
Making a November Opening Happen
Thanks to favorable snowmaking conditions in early November and some natural snowfall, we were able to safely open the brand-new Coach’s Corner, Stewart’s Bowl, and The Explorer Terrain Park on opening weekend.

Snowmaking Magic
This early-season opening was made possible by our snowmaking team, or as we like to call them, Bogus Basin’s Snow Sorcerers! When the weather allows, the Snow Sorcerers work 24/7 to turn water into snow, reducing our reliance on natural snowfall to open the mountain!
Amidst all of the construction projects this summer, we installed 7 hydrants and 1,300 feet of snowmaking pipe on the extended Coach’s Corner Run. The team of Snow Sorcerers put in the work, converting 3,100,000 gallons of water into snow, blanketing 13 acres with machine-made snow.
In the early season, Coach’s Corner tops our snowmaking priority list. Opening this run ensures accessible terrain for almost everyone – from beginners to experts.
This Time Last Year…
We entered the 2023/24 Winter Season with very dry weather conditions and only 15″ of preseason snowfall.
The Explorer Terrain Park opened in 2023 with the Low Tide event on 100% machine-made snow on November 18th. The following weekend, we opened the Coach double chair, which was much shorter than it is today, on November 25th.
Through the tireless efforts of the Snow Sorcerers, on December 2nd of last season, we were able to open Deer Point and Morning Star Express.
We’re thankful for the improved natural snowfall and the continued snowmaking efforts this season, which have allowed us to make more terrain available sooner.
More Terrain For Thanksgiving Weekend!
Bogus Basin plans to operate this Thanksgiving holiday weekend, November 28th – December 1st. With favorable weather last weekend, 9″ of recent snowfall, and cold temperatures in the forecast, we plan to open more terrain on both natural and machine-made snow.
