Bogus Basin to host over 1,000 students for the annual National interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) State Championship races
Boise, Idaho – More than 1,000 middle and high school mountain bike racers and their families are expected at Bogus Basin this Saturday, October 10th, for the Idaho Interscholastic Cycling League (IICL) State Championships. This marks the 12th year the league, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Project League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), has hosted the championship races.
“Welcoming NICA student-athletes and their families from across Idaho is one of the highlights of our year. Events like this are at the heart of Bogus Basin’s mission to make outdoor recreation accessible and and fun in all seasons.”
Susan Saad, Director of Community and Customer Relations
Camping in permitted parking lots is free. Limited mountain services will be available.
“The growth of this event has been incredible to see. We’re hoping to exceed our previous attendance record this weekend with over 1,000 student-athletes participating. Their families, coaches, and supporters will bring total attendance to approximately 3,000 people for an exciting celebration of youth mountain biking.”
Eddie Fryer, Idaho NICA league Director
With more than 1,000 racers and their families expected at Bogus Basin, mountain officials are encouraging the public to make plans to recreate elsewhere this weekend. “October is a fantastic time to get outside, and there are plenty of places to explore throughout the Treasure Valley,” said Jamie Zolber, Director of Skier Services. “With so many racers and families at Bogus Basin, it’s going to be busy on the mountain. This would be a great weekend to check out some of those other spots.”
