March 16, 2019 (BOISE, ID)– Young girls who are interested in expanding their wildlife and recreation knowledge are invited to participate in a daylong Junior Ski Patrol camp at Bogus Basin on Sunday, March 24th. The event, which is being cohosted by Bogus basin and SheJumps, will pair girls ages 8-17 with female members of the Bogus Basin Ski Patrol to learn mountain safety and first aid.
“We are thrilled to bring the Junior Ski Patrol program to Bogus Basin,” said Stacy Hopstad, Idaho Regional Coordinator for SheJumps. “The girls will leave the day educated and empowered by this unique opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at what it is like to be a ski patroller.”
The Junior Ski Patrol event is part of SheJumps Wild Skills Youth Initiative, which teaches young girls the survival and technical skills they need for outdoor adventuring. The goal is to see girls learning, having fun, and connecting in an encouraging environment with positive instruction and support. “Bogus Basin is excited to welcome these girls to the mountain so that they can learn from the talented female members of our ski patrol,” said Susan Saad, Bogus Basin Director of Community Relations.
The Junior Ski Patrol will take place from 9:30am until 4:00pm on Saturday, March 24th at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. Topics include first aid, mountain safety, toboggan use, avalanche basics, and more. The event is intended for intermediate to advanced skiers. The cost to register is $45, which includes lunch.
