The 9th Annual Don Baker Banked Slalom
Last weekend, the Diggers of Bogus Basin Terrain Parks hosted the 9th Annual Don Baker Banked Slalom races. The Don Baker Banked Slalom races began in 2016 in memory of Don Baker, a local legend in the Bogus Basin community. Don Baker worked at Bogus Basin as a ski patroller and Lift Operations Director for much of his life. He encouraged locals to get outside and enjoy the mountain during that time. Don is warmly remembered for hiring the youth looking for a way to earn their pass for the season, fostering a sense of home and community at Bogus Basin.

Riders get two runs, with the fastest time determining the winner. The Don Baker Banked Slalom is known to be quite tricky – many times, riders don’t make it down both of their race runs without a tumble. As the saying goes, “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.”
“Now in its 9th year the LDBBS continues to spread the message that Don Baker preached that Bogus Basin is for everyone and getting people to become lifelong skiers and boarders being his goal is still being carried on. This event is entirely put on by the Bogus Basin Terrain Park crew and the only snowboard-specific event at Bogus Basin.”
Corey McDonald, Terrain Park Director at Bogus Basin
