Volunteer Opportunity—Seed Collecting

Bluebells-Nature Photography

What

Come volunteer with Bogus Basin’s Sustainability & Stewardship team and help us collect native wildflower seeds! As part of our ongoing restoration and revegetation efforts, Bogus Basin is working with our friends at the Forest Service to grow native plants for projects on the mountain. As part of that process we need to collect seeds from our mountain location (to ensure proper plant genetics) to pass along to the expert growers over at the Lucky Peak Nursery. This will be a leisurely experience and no prior seed collecting experience is necessary. All ages welcome! As a bonus, you’ll be able to take a few seeds home for your own garden (species collected will vary depending which plants have ripe seeds).

When & Where

September 2, 2023 @ 10:00 AM 12:00 PM

We will meet at the Frontier Point Lodge at the above stated time. Be sure to come dressed/prepared for the day. Water, sunscreen, snack, good walking shoes are a must. Feel free to bring a pair of scissors or clippers if you like (not necessary) — these will be used to clip seed heads from the plant.

How to Register

To sign up for this volunteer project you can send an email our Sustainability & Stewardship Supervisor at ncollins@bogusbasin.org. Please indicate if you will be solo or bringing multiple folks along.
