August 25, 2021 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin released its full schedule of late-summer events today, a mix of both new and established activities that underscore the area’s mission to provide accessible, affordable and fun recreation and education throughout the year.
The events also include new collaborations between Bogus Basin, performing arts organizations, and a local program that helps refugee farmers learn to grow and sell their own food. While Bogus Basin has always offered deeply discounted learn-to-ski programs to local youth in winter, expanded summer operations are enabling the area to reach audiences with a diverse range of interests:
-On Saturday, August 28th from 7:00pm-8:30pm, Boise Contemporary Theater (BCT) will host its first “Reading on the Mountain,” featuring six BCT cast members reading Silent Sky, a play about pioneering women in the field of early astronomy. The reading will take place in the amphitheater near the Morning Star Express Chairlift. Tickets are $15, purchase online through Boise Contemporary Theater.

–Boise Phil will perform a free community concert on the Simplot Base Area stage on Saturday, September 11th at 2:00pm. The concert, titled Natural Wonders, will celebrate the power of music and nature together. Musicians will perform works by local composers David Alan Earnest and Jim Cockey. A free, family-friendly art activity is also planned for the afternoon.
-Bogus Basin recently received a Project Neighborly/Idaho Community Foundation grant to host Global Gardens farmers for “Market on the Mountain.” The farmers will sell their locally grown produce in the Simplot Base Area on Sunday, August 29th from 11:00am-1:00pm (cash/check only), while their family members enjoy free activities on the mountain. Global Gardens supports beginning farmers from diverse backgrounds by providing access to land, training, and the market. At 2:00pm, a free guided nature hike is planned from the top of Deerpoint Express Chairlift.
-The final Music on the Mountain concert of the summer is on Saturday, September 4th and will feature an opening performance by Boise Rock School, an independent arts education organization.

About Bogus Basin Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin offers 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain and 200 acres for night skiing, seven chairlifts and three people-mover carpets, and an 800-foot tubing hill.
