September 2, 2019 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin will achieve a big construction milestone this week: The lift towers for the new Morning Star High Speed Quad chairlift are scheduled to be flown into position by helicopter on Wednesday morning. Flying, catching, securing and installing the eleven towers is expected to last 2-3 hours, and will begin at approximately 8:00am. The public is invited to watch from a safe distance in the Simplot Base Area or the Pioneer Lodge parking lot. The Morning Star mountain bike trails and cat tracks will be closed for the duration of flight operations.
What: Ten Bogus Basin Morning Star High Speed Express lift towers will be flown into position via helicopter.
When: Wednesday, September 4, 2019, 8:00am until 11:00am (approximately)
Where: The public is invited to watch from Bogus Basin’s Simplot Base Area or Pioneer Lodge parking lot.
Note: Bogus Basin current operating hours are Saturday/Sunday only, but restroom access will be available.
Why: On March 14th, 2019, Bogus Basin announced plans to replace the Morning Star Chairlift (Chair 2) with a new high speed detachable quad. This is the first new chairlift for the area since 2011, bringing the total number of high speed detachable quads to four. Construction began in the spring and the lift is on track to be complete in time for the 2019-20 winter season.
