A Look Back at the 2025/26 Season

Thank You For a Fun 2025/26 Season!

Wow… what a season. Despite record-high temperatures and one of the lowest snowpacks, the Bogus Basin community showed up, brought the energy, and reminded us all what makes this place so special—YOU!

Thanks to the hard work of our Mountain Operations and Snowmaking teams — and, of course, the enthusiasm of our community — we still had an incredible time on the snow.

Keep reading for a look back at Bogus Basin’s 84th operating season.

Open Thanksgiving Weekend, Thanks to Snow Secure

First to open in Idaho! Even with November 2025 ranking among the warmest on record, the team at Bogus Basin pulled off a Thanksgiving weekend opening on Saturday, November 29th, and Sunday, November 30th. The Discovery Conveyor operated from 9 am to 4:30 pm both days, uplifting the community to the top of a terrain park with 9 features, and a carving lane located on the lower section of the Coach’s Corner run.

The timely opening was made possible by our pilot program with Snow Secure snow storage technology, combined with snowmaking efforts whenever temperatures allowed.

The challenging start to winter demonstrated that Snow Secure’s insulated panels not only work, but can also support early-season openings — even when winter is slow to arrive. The team looks forward to continuing to work with this new and innovative technology.

The Discovery Conveyor, Easy Rider Carpet, and Coach Chairlift—with service to Coach’s Corner run —were open on Saturdays and Sundays, December 6th – 7th and 13th – 14th.

True Bogus, Winter, and Value Season Pass holders had all-day access, while Twilight Season Pass holders had access from 3 pm to close.

  • Conveyor tickets were $15, and day tickets—including access to the Coach Chairlift—were $25.

Daily operations on the Coach Chairlift and three conveyor lifts began on our 83rd birthday – Friday, December 20th. The Tubing Hill opened on December 22nd, just in time for families to enjoy during the thrill of the Bogus Basin Tubing Hill during the winter holiday break.

“Skied today. Your crew has done an amazing job making the most of this slim snow year. Thank you!”

Record-Breaking Snowmaking!

By December 31st, the mountain had received just 26″ of natural snowfall — significantly below average for that time of year. Following a late-December cold snap and a massive push by the Bogus Basin Snowmaking team (aka the Snow Sorcerers), the Deer Point and Morning Star Express chairlifts opened on 100% machine-made snow on New Year’s Eve.

This season, our Snow Sorcerers increased snowmaking output by 120% compared to last year’s record season, taking advantage of every cold window. In total, they pulled off an impressive 48 days and nights of operation on 14 runs, producing 250 acre-feet of snow!

“So much appreciation for the snowmaking investment. Bogus wouldn’t even be open in the Before Times.”

The Frontier Point Trail System and Lodge Open!

Select trails on the Frontier Point Trail System, along with the Frontier Point Lodge, opened on January 8th after a storm delivered 21″ of snow over four days. The Nordic Highway and select cross-country and snowshoe trails remained open through Thursday, March 19th.

Keeping Mountain Recreation Accessible for All

With limited snowpack and strong demand from the community, Mountain Management temporarily adjusted restrictions on Value, Twilight, and Night Season Passes until more terrain could open and full night operations could begin.

We recognize the value of time spent in the mountains and wanted to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the available terrain while we awaited additional natural snowfall—allowing us to expand access and, extend operating hours.

Effective December 28th, 2026, Twilight and Night Season Pass holders had daily mountain access from 12 pm to 4:30 pm.

Midweek Season Pass holders were invited to ride on the weekend of January 3rd– 4th.

Value Season Pass holders had open-to-close access Monday through Friday, and from 12 pm to 4:30 pm on weekends, until regular night operations began.

“Shout out to the groom and snow crews at Bogus! You guys are doing fantastic with what little snow you’ve got! The runs ski great! Thanks so much!!”

The Remodeled Pioneer Lodge Opens

The newly remodeled Pioneer Lodge opened to the public on January 23rd.

Guests returned to enjoy new features, including expanded windows with panoramic views that brighten the space, an elevator, an updated locker room, and more.

Friday and Saturday afternoon Happy Hour specials in La Cumbre Taqueria, located on the third floor of the lodge, were a huge hit this season — stay tuned for more events in the Pioneer Lodge next winter!

Entire Mountain Open + Nightly Operations Begin

The mountain transformed after a 21″ snow storm rolled through the area in mid-February. The backside of the mountain finally had enough coverage for the team to safely open the Superior Express Chairlift, and begin seven-night a week operations on Thursday, February 19th.

Free Guided Snowshoe Tours

The Bogus Basin Environmental Education team invited guests to explore our mountain environment on free Guided Nature Tours every Saturday and Sunday. This winter, the team held 40 free snowshoe tours on the Frontier Point Trail System! Stay tuned for more free tours on the mountain this summer!

SnowSchool

Bogus Basin’s SnowSchool field trip program gets kids outside on snowshoes to learn about snow science and winter ecology in the Boise National Forest. This winter, we hosted 76 school field trips, welcoming a total of 3,364 students to SnowSchool on the mountain.

End of Season Celebration

With unseasonably warm March temperatures, the team made the difficult decision to close for the season on March 22nd. We wrapped up the 2025/26 winter season in style, with a Bogus Basin Meltdown Party! All Season Pass holders were invited to take their final laps of the season and spend one last day on the mountain with us.

The Bogus Basin Meltdown party was a full day of fun – from a costume parade down Ridge Run, to games in the base area, trick competitions in the park, and live music with High Pine Whiskey Yell.

Thank You!

Thank you to the Bogus Basin community for riding with us this season. From seasons of deep powder (like last year) to seasons made possible by snowmaking (like this year), we’re grateful to everyone who continues to show up and spend time in the mountains at the Treasure Valley’s local, not-for-profit playground. We look forward to seeing you again soon for a summer full of mountain fun—stay tuned for details coming your way!
