450 Kids, 20 Community Businesses, 3 Days of Fun and Sun

Blue Oval With Bogus Basin In The Center

July 19, 2017 (BOISE, ID)– A day of learning and laughing. A bus ride up the mountain. An unforgettable experience. More than 450 local kids will get a chance to head up to Bogus Basin this summer and fall, thanks to the generosity of 20 area businesses who donated $35,000 to make happen.

Together Treasure Valley, a collaboration of area businesses that has generously given more than $200,000 for projects across the Treasure Valley in the past year, will fund three field trips to the mountain for 450 kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County. “This is FANTASTIC!” said Colleen Braga, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, whose mission is to inspire and empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. “What an extraordinary opportunity for our kids. Thank you for making this happen!”

Susan Saad, Director of Community & Customer Relations at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, was thrilled to learn that Together partners would fund these outings. “This is exactly the impact that Bogus Basin hoped to achieve through the implementation of our year-round master plan,” she said. “We look forward to working together to make these outings both fun and meaningful for the kids.”

Together Treasure Valley is thrilled to provide educational opportunities to kids who are part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, and to showcase the new summer activities at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. Both non-profit organizations are gems of our community that deserve to be highlighted, celebrated, and supported.

Bogus Basin and the Boys & Girls Clubs will receive this funding to provide three educational days: On August 2, more than 250 kids enrolled in the Boys and Girls Clubs summer program will head to the mountain to take part in some of Bogus’ 75th Anniversary newest amenities. Bogus is opening for the day just for this group of 8-14 year olds, who will get to go summer tubing, climb a rock wall, defy gravity and fly more than 20 feet in the air on the bungee trampoline, participate in a mountain discovery education exploration and more. The day includes lunch, a commemorative T-shirt, and drawstring backpack.

On August 21, a solar eclipse will cross the state of Idaho, and 40 teenagers will head to Bogus Basin for a great viewing point. The teens will also get to learn about this rare phenomenon and how to safely view a solar eclipse as they watch the partial eclipse.

Finally, on October 6, a final group of 150 school age kids will head to the mountain– to ride the new Mountain Coaster! While there’s no school that day, these kids will be learning a lot– about Bogus, about nature, and more. In addition, the kids will get to experience Bogus’ new Fun Zone activities, have lunch, and get commemorative t-shirts and drawstring backpacks.

“Creating the opportunity for Boys & Girls Club participants to experience Bogus Basin’s summer season is a step in the right direction,” said Jean De Luca, President & CEO of Delta Dental of Idaho, one of the Together Treasure Valley partners. “We are thrilled our youth get a taste of our local outdoors and hopefully establish a pattern of physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle now and into adulthood.”

Together Treasure Valley was launched in April 2016 to do good in our community and celebrate what a great place the Valley is to live and work. Area businesses have joined Together and have made a significant investment to fund a variety of projects since their inception. 2017 partners include: Albertsons, Boise Airport, CBH Homes, Colliers International, Delta Dental of Idaho, Engineered Structures, Inc., Holland & Hart, Idaho Central Credit Union, Idaho Power Company, Idaho Statesman, Intermountain Gas Company, Jacksons, Lyle Pearson, Oppenheimer Companies, Inc., Regence BlueShield of Idaho, Saint Alphonsus Health System, St. Luke’s, United Heritage, University of Idaho, and Wells Fargo.
