No Refunds or Cancellations – All purchases are FINAL and cannot be canceled, refunded, changed or transferred. We do not guarantee weather or conditions, open terrain or number of lifts operating.


There are no refunds for daily tickets, but Bogus Basin does offer a “weather check” (credit) for another day of skiing/boarding within 1 hour of purchasing the ticket.


Lease gear can be returned on the mountain at the rental shop during summer operating hours

Bogus Basin management may adjust hours & days of operation, lift openings, terrain access, and activity offering at any time based upon snow conditions, weather conditions, trail conditions, and/or skier visits at any time.


Safety Considerations:
Bogus Basin has the authority to manage, and restrict uphill traffic to the public within the boundary of our operational area as authorized through our permit with the U.S. Forest Service. Reasons for closures may include the area maintenance and other operational activities such as grooming, snow making, construction, avalanche mitigation, and special events to name a few.

Rules of the Up:
Bogus Basin Recreation Area generally allows uphill traffic in areas and times where a lift is not currently operating. However, Mountain Staff and Ski Patrol always have the right to ask you to turn around or leave the area. For the safety of everyone at Bogus Basin, anyone participating in these activities must adhere to the following guidelines and accept the risks associated with uphill travel.

  • No uphill traffic on open runs.  This includes ALL in bounds lift accessible terrain and cat tracks, (including tree runs and “off trail”) with the exception of the Uphill Track (see below)  If the lifts are turning and people are skiing down in your vicinity, you need to be heading downhill as well.
  • Know and follow ‘Your Responsibility Code’ at all times.
  • Before and after daylight hours, a headlamp or flashlight is required and reflective clothing is advised at all hours.
  • No dogs are allowed on the mountain.
  • Overnight stays on the mountain are Not Permitted!
  • Bogus Basin reserves the right to close uphill traffic at any time.
  • The mountain is closed and swept clear of all guests and staff at the end of each operating day and during emergencies.  Do not expect Ski Patrol rescue response after an area is swept clear, or before opening.   
  • If your presence on-mountain property presents a hazard or the mountain staff feels that you are impeding the operations of the mountain, you may be directed to utilize a different location. You must follow such direction or you will be asked to leave the premises
  • It is your responsibility to avoid all grooming operations, snowmobiles, and snowmaking equipment and especially the winch groomers and their cables. The cable between the anchor and the groomer can be difficult to see and maybe under the snow or crossing over runs. These cables are deceptively thin and can stretch for a thousand feet and can move very quickly across runs with the groomer out of sight below.  Collisions with these cables will cause severe injury or death.
    -Possible winched runs include but are not limited to Cabin Traverse, Wildcat, Upper Paradise, Lower Nugget, Second Chance, Night Hawk, Triumph, War Eagle, Lando’s Mojo, and Widowmaker.
  • STAY OFF OF TRAILS WHEN SNOWMAKING IS IN PROGRESS. These trails will have 480-volt electrical cords and high-pressure water hoses, and at times they may be just beneath the surface of the snow. They may also have very icy conditions, particularly near the snow guns. Seek an alternate route if you see any indication of snow machines, electrical cords, or hoses.
    – Do not enter areas where machinery is in use
    – The majority of machinery operates after hours, pay close attention at all times.

B) Shafer Butte Route: This route departs from the Pioneer Lodge up Lodge Cat track to hiker’s left of Triumph and then on up the cat track to Shafer Butte. This route is closed due to operations and winch grooming until about 2:00 am. In the mornings please be transitioning into downhill mode fifteen minutes before opening, 8:45 am on weekends and holidays and 9:45 am Monday through Friday. Note that we strive to open the lifts early for guests, and if we do, you will be required to turn around and head downhill.  



There are no Ski Patrol or ski area services outside of the mountain’s normal operating hours. If accessing the mountain prior to operating hours, you do so at your own risk. In case of emergency, outside of operating hours, call 911 and know that response times could be extended. Additionally while utilizing areas that are closed for lift access, such as Pine Creek or Bitterroot during night ski ops, Ski Patrol may not have resources to attend to emergencies outside of operational areas.  Also be aware that mobile phone service can be unreliable on the mountain, especially on the Pine Creek side and Superior sides of the mountain.  In summary if you are utilizing the area for uphill travel, treat it like the back country and be prepared to self-rescue or be equipped to survive a long wait time for outside help.  


We have decided to waive the pass and liability waiver for this season.

Back Country Gates: These gates are maintained to provide access to the back country terrain surrounding Bogus Basin.  Once you go through one of these gates, you have left Bogus Basin.  Ski Patrol does not operate outside of the area boundaries, and will not be responsible for rescues. Please only utilize these gates if you are equipped, at a minimum, with a beacon, shovel, probe, and the skills and knowledge to assess and travel in avalanche terrain and perform a partner rescue.  Bogus Basin may at times close these gates due to avalanche or other hazards, however an open gate does not in any way signify or guarantee slope stability or safety.  When gates are closed you are free to access that terrain another way if you are so determined, as it is public land, you just can’t do it from our operating area.  If you need assistance outside one of the gates, call 911 as you would in any other emergency outside of Bogus Basin and be equipped to wait an extended time for rescue.


Due to safety and privacy concerns, Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area prohibits the operation or use on or above BBMRA property of unmanned aerial systems, or drones, by the general public—including model aircraft by recreational users and hobbyists. This prohibition extends to any devices launched or operated from BBMRA property, as well as any launched from private property outside of the area boundaries.  Any authorized operation of drones on or above BBMRA property will be governed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations, local law enforcement, as well as those policies separately established by BBMRA, which may include certification, training, insurance coverage, indemnification requirements, and waivers or releases of liability.  Any violation of this policy may involve suspension of your access privileges to the area, or the revocation of your season pass, as well as confiscation of any prohibited equipment, and may subject violators to any liability for damages, including, but not limited to, damages for trespass, violations of privacy, and physical injuries to persons and/or property, as well as legal fees.


  1. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
  2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
  3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
  4. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
  5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
  6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely


Purchase your lift tickets in advance, online, to guarantee access to the mountain on your day of choice.

Advance online ticket purchasing for the winter 2020-21 season is now live! Twice a week, we will release an inventory of day and night lift tickets on the following schedule:

  • Wednesdays at 4:00 pm MST: Tickets for the upcoming Saturday, Sunday, and holiday Monday (if applicable) will become available
  • Fridays at 4:00 pm MST: Tickets for the upcoming (non-holiday) Monday through Friday will become available

    -If you wish to ski/ride Wednesday, January 13th, tickets will go live at 4:00 pm MST on Friday, January 8th

  • Guests must be at least 54″ tall to ride alone.
  • For guests who are at least 3 years old and 38″-54″ tall, a companion 16 years or older and at 54″+ tall is required to accompany them as a driver.
  • The maximum weight is 375 lbs if conditions are dry and 330 lbs, if conditions are wet.
  • No pregnant riders and no alcohol allowed

  • Parent/guardian must sign for a minor


  • Height minimum is 38” and weight maximum is 300 lbs per tube
  • Only 1 person per tube.
  • Tubing allowed in provided tubes only.
  • All participants must have a tubing ticket attached to a coat or pants.
  • No ski boots, snowboards boots with metal cleats, or other hard shell/rigid sole footwear.
  • No alcohol on the hill.


  • Please walk on the outside edge of the trail if you take your skis off!
  • Ski to the right on two-way trails.
  • Move to the right side of the trail when stopping,
  • Sound a pleasant warning, or call “track”, when passing a slower skier.
  • Yield to downhill skiers.
  • Ski only in the direction marked by the arrows – during night skiing hours all lit trails are only one-way.
  • Do not ski on closed trails.
  • Please don’t litter.
  • No dogs allowed on the Frontier Point trail network at Bogus Basin
  • BE AWARE that grooming machinery, maintenance personnel, and Ski Patrol may be on the trail at any time.

  • Please make sure you initial in the spaces provided and print legibly in the areas requiring PASS HOLDER NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH. One form allows up to five (5) family members; use a second form if you have a larger family. If not a family, then use a separate form per person.


Bogus Basin allows Class 1 pedal assist, dual suspension, electric mountain bikes on trails located in The Basin Gravity Park only. These trails are on Bogus Basin’s private property.

E-bike usage is prohibited on all other trails at Bogus Basin. Trails that are outside The Basin Gravity Park are located on US Forest Service property. E-bike usage is prohibited by the US Forest Service.

Understanding the Three Classes of Electric Bikes:

Class 1: The motor kicks in only when you pedal, and stops helping at 20 mph

Class 2: Also has a pedal-assist mode up to 20 mph plus a purely throttle-powered mode

Class 3: Is solely pedal-assist (like class 1), but assistance continues until you hit 28 mph.

The Basin Gravity Park trails are located off the top of the Morningstar Express Chairlift. Below are the names of trails in The Basin Gravity Park, the only trails at Bogus Basin where Class 1 pedal assist electric mountain bikes are allowed. Uphill travel in The Basin Gravity Park is prohibited.

All season pass holders are required to sign an annual agreement before the pass can be picked up or mailed. Signatures are required before season passes will be issued. Pass holders under 18 must have an agreement signed by their parent or guardian.

Please complete one waiver then click the link again to generate a new waiver if signing for someone other than yourself under the age of 18.

If you are a minor trying to pick up your season pass and do not have a parent/guardian available to sign, an email with the electronic waiver can be sent to them. Otherwise a one-time “I Forgot My Pass” lift ticket will be issued at the Simplot Lodge Ticket Office.

We accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and Bogus Bucks Gift Certificates. Bogus Bucks Gift Certificates cannot be used online at this time. Please note that any debit/credit card purchase made online cannot be refunded at a later time in exchange for a Bogus Buck payment. All season pass holders are required to sign a liability waiver before the pass can be printed and issued.


You will have to agree to this policy prior to completing your purchase. Credits on season passes are ONLY issued due to medical or relocation (100-mile radius or more) from the Treasure Valley. Valid documentation is REQUIRED to process all credits. Season pass credits are placed on a Bogus Basin gift card (Bogus Bucks) and expire in 5 years. Credits are processed in batches and will not be issued immediately; expect a delay of at least 2 weeks prior to receiving your gift card in the mail.

You can request a transfer of your season pass to another individual if the mountain has not opened for the winter season and the season pass has not been issued. The transfer is for the current season only. Certain restrictions apply. To purchase a season pass, this policy must be accepted. If not accepted, then the season pass purchase will not be completed.

  • Season passes will not be credited due to days and/or hours of operation, snow conditions or skier visits.
  • Bogus Basin’s fiscal year ends May 31. Credit requests made after May 31 (of the expiration year on the pass) will not be accepted.
  • Any credit due to a medical condition is for that individual only. The credit does not extend to family members.
  • A credit for a family member on a “Family” pass is based on the number of members in the family and their ages.
  • All season pass credits are pro-rated.

Provide the following REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION and your season pass. Credits will not be issued without the return of the pass (if issued) or one of the documents listed below:

  • Send the document as a pdf or jpg file.
  • MEDICAL: a letter from a physician stating medical condition (date of injury, surgery, etc)
  • RELOCATION: proof of relocation (100 miles or more), such as a monthly statement (utility, bank, etc) or lease, or a copy of employment papers from hiring or transferring company. Car insurance or drivers license will not be accepted.

Season pass holders can transfer an individual pass ONLY if the mountain has not opened for the winter season and the season pass as not been issued. The transfer is for the current season ONLY. Certain restrictions apply. There is a $10.00 processing fee. The pass holder must request in writing to whom the pass should be transferred. The individual who the pass is being transferred to must bring in that request OR you can use our pass-transfer-note. Print, fill out and send with the person who is receiving the pass.


  • There are NO transfers for the following passes: night, midweek, passport, college student, military, new resident, or family.
  • Season passes that include benefits DO NOT transfer.
  • Season passes are NOT transferred from one season to the next.
  • A season pass can be transferred from one age group to another (ie Adult to Junior OR Junior to Adult), but the guest must pay the difference between the pass type. There is NO refund, but Bogus will offer a credit to Bogus Bucks (Bogus Basin gift card) when applicable.


  • December 1, 2021, is the birthday cut-off date for season passes and lift tickets. (How old is the individual on December 1, 2021?)
  • For example, if the pass being purchased is for a Junior (7-12 yrs), and the child is turning 13 before Dec. 1, 2020, then they do not qualify for the child rate. That child will qualify for the Teen (13-17 yrs) rate.
  • Proof of a birth certificate or valid ID is required if the individual has not had a season pass with Bogus Basin or if there is a discrepancy within our database. A senior will need a valid ID
  • Bogus Basin reserves the right to charge the additional amount on a pass if the individual does not meet the age requirement for that pass.
  • If a balance has to be paid in the fall due to a discrepancy, then the balance is based on the sale period when the pass is issued, not when the season pass was purchased.


You must also meet the below definition of a family AND you will be required to show proof of dependency annually, regardless if you have previously had a family pass.

Please be prepared to show this proof when picking up a season pass, or email us the proof before any of the family members pick up their pass. We reserve the right to not issue and/or charge the correct amount before any of the passes are issued.

Family Pass Qualifications:

  • Legally married Adults with IRS-dependent children or a single parent with dependent children
  • If legally married and filing taxes individually, then the address on tax information must match and dependents must be listed on either tax form.
  • Only two members can be over the age of 24.
  • IRS-dependent children can be added up to the age of 24. (see birthday cut off)
  • If family members have different last names, then proof of a birth certificate for dependents required.
  • Grandparents, in-laws, nannies, groundskeepers, housekeepers, roommates, etc., do not qualify.
  • Siblings (or other relatives) 24 years of age and older who live together DO NOT QUALIFY. For example, two brothers living together with their children.

  • Spring Season Passes for the 2021 spring season can be picked up on the mountain at the Simplot Ticket office during operating hours.
  • Summer Season Passes for the 2021 summer season can be picked up on the mountain at the Simplot Ticket Office during operating hours.
  • True Bogus Season Passes for the 2021-2022 year-round season can be picked up on the mountain at the Simplot Ticket Office during our operating hours.
  • Winter ONLY Season Passes for the 2021-2022 winter season cannot be picked up at this time! Please stop by the downtown sales office (2600 N Bogus Basin Rd) during normal fall operating hours


  • Guest name on the pass MUST be verifiable with a government ID. Minors excluded with the presentation of their parent’s ID.
  • CURRENT PASS HOLDERS: If an individual is 18 years of age and under, we require an updated photo EVERY OTHER YEAR.
  • NEW PASS HOLDERS: Come to the mountain at the Simplot Ticket office to have your photo taken.
  • OTHER: Season pass holders who have already been issued their pass can have their photos re-taken for $5.00. The new pass will be issued when the original pass is returned.


Bogus Basin has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to season passes being used in a fraudulent manner. The Bogus Basin season pass is revocable under the laws of the State of Idaho and is revocable at the sole discretion of Bogus Basin Mountain. Violation of any federal, state, or local law while on Bogus Basin property will result in season pass cancellation without refund.

If a guest is involved in the use of a fraudulent season pass (this includes the pass holder) they will have two options:

  1. Forfeit the pass for the remainder of the season.
    1. This season pass is null and void because it was used in a fraudulent manner.
    2. You are allowed to purchase daily lift tickets.
    3. You are allowed to purchase next year’s pass during a “spring” sale, but you are NOT allowed to pick it up until next season.
  2. You have lost all season pass privileges for the current season. Purchase another pass for the remainder of the season.
    1. This is a full-price (Dec. 1 rate) season pass with NO discounts.
    2. Your privileges have been reinstated for the current season.
    3. You are allowed this option ONLY ONE (1) time during a season. A second violation will result in immediate prosecution.


In the event you forget your season pass one “I Forgot My Pass” (IFMP) ticket will be issued. Guests caught using their “I forgot My Pass” ticket for fraudulent purposes will be held to our Fraud Policy. ONLY ONE “I Forgot My Pass” Ticket will be issued per season. Guests requiring more than ONE “I Forgot My Pass” ticket throughout the season will be required to pay full price for a day ticket. 

In order for a guest to receive their ONE “I Forgot My Pass” ticket, they will be required to sign the “I Forgot My Pass” Notice.


Season pass holders are allowed ONE “Replacement” season pass for a fee of $10.00. If the pass is lost a second time, then the pass holder may re-purchase a season pass at the original purchase price. The fee to replace a Nordic pass is $5.00. In order for guests to receive their replacement or reprinted season pass, guests will be required to sign a Season Pass Reprint & Replacement Notice.

If you are a current night pass holder and purchase an unrestricted pass for the spring and or next season, then you MUST turn in your current night pass before the new pass can be printed.Night season passes are ONLY valid from 3pm- close. Night season passes are NOT good for the Nordic trails.


If you are a current midweek pass holder and purchase an unrestricted pass for the spring and or next season, then you MUST turn in your current midweek pass before the new pass can be printed. There are no upgrades currently available.

Midweek season passes are ONLY valid Monday – Friday on Alpine trails with blackout dates (see below). Valid on Nordic trails every day with no blackout dates. 

2021-22 Midweek Season Pass Holder Blackout dates:

  • Presidents Day: Feb 17, 2022
  • Thanksgiving: Nov 26-27, 2022
  • Christmas Break: Dec 23-25, Dec 28, 2021 – Jan 1, 2022

Anyone who is enrolled in either 12+ undergrad credits or 9+ graduate credits. You will be required to show proof of enrollment at the time of season pass pick up. Proof of enrollment can be a current semester schedule, future semester schedule, or college career transcript. Trade school/Vocational School will require proof of full-time enrollment. Who qualifies for the season pass Military discount?

Anyone who either has a government-issued Military ID, VA Card, Military Paperwork (DD214), or Veteran Designation on Drivers License.

Can my spouse get a season pass at the Military discount rate?

If your spouse has a government-issued Military ID, VA Card, Military Paperwork (DD214), or Veteran Designation on their Drivers License, they also qualify for a season pass with the Military Discount.

Can my child/dependent get a season pass at the Military discount rate?

Military discounts are only valid for adults and senior age categories. There is no discount for dependents of service people.

Do I need to show proof of my Military status?

Yes, anyone wishing to take advantage of our military season pass discount, will need to show proof of military status at the time of pick up. If you are unable to furnish acceptable proof of military status, you will not be able to pick up your season pass.

Gift Cards

There are no refunds for Bogus Bucks/gift cards. Gift cards are like cash and are not replaced if lost or stolen. Gift cards expire in 5 years; note the expiration date on the back of the card. The balance on a gift card will not be transferred to another gift card.


A deposit is REQUIRED to reserve the facility and date requested by the renting party. A group contract agreement confirming the dates and services requested, and corresponding deposit requirements, will be sent to the renting party. Confirm the information, making any necessary changes, and promptly sign and return the contract to the Group Sales Manager with any required deposits as outlined in the agreement. Rental deposits are applied to your final bill. Refundable damage deposits, if required, are NOT applied to the final bill and will be returned to the renting party if the premises are deemed by Bogus Basin to be in good order after the event. If no damage deposit is collected upon sign up Bogus Basin reserves the right to charge an additional fee in the event of damage to the property.

Bogus Basin assumes NO responsibility for loss or damage to materials and/or equipment left in the lodges. The renting party will assume ALL liability for damages to the premises and will be charged accordingly. The renting party agrees to and accepts the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY for any actions that arise from the serving of alcohol and the renting party will protect Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area and its directors from any legal actions due to the renter’s decision to have alcohol served at their function. All sales and purchases of alcohol must be facilitated through Bogus Basin. NO outside alcohol is allowed in any Bogus Basin property.

By signing the Bogus Basin Confirmation Contract and/or the Group Sales/Catering Contract, the renting party acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to all of these stated policies for conducting an event at the Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area.


ALL total minimum fees are due 14 working days prior to the date of the scheduled function, unless special arrangements are made by the Groups Sales Manager or Catering Director. Your reservation will not be guaranteed until all necessary deposits have been paid. Any additional charges are billed upon completion of the function. If your only charges are for lodge use and catering you will be expected to pay at the conclusion of your event. If you incur fees for non-food and beverage related activities you will be billed within a week after your event and the balance is due within 14 days of receipt of invoice.


Deposits are required to reserve the facilities for the date(s) of the function. All final deposits are due a minimum of 14 working days prior to function date(s). Bogus Basin may require a refundable damage deposit prior to certain events. Past due payment terms: All invoices are due within 14 days of the billing date. Payments received 14 days after the billing date may be subject to a minimum service charge of $50.00 and an interest charge of 3% per month with a 1-month minimum charge. By signing the contract agreement, you are agreeing to pay the service charge and interest when late payment is received.


Minimum facility rental fees will be assessed per event. Facility fees are based on daily lodge use, room rentals, or property use. The facility fees are in addition to other contracted services or catering orders.


There is an additional $75 Non-Hosted bar fee. This charge is waived with a minimum purchase of $500 toward a non-hosted bar. There can also be additional fees for any off-site services. These are negotiated per event and for specific needs. Any further costs incurred for additional rental equipment will be the sole responsibility of the renting party.


The Group Sales Catering agreement can be canceled by the renting party with written notice by registered letter and with payment of applicable cancellation fees. It is further provided that there shall be no right of termination for the sole purpose of holding the same or like event in another facility or city. Cancellations made by the renting party outside of 120 days with written notice will be fully refunded of any deposit and/or prepayments. Cancellations made by the renting party inside 120 days but more than 90 days from the date of the event with written notice will be refunded 50% of deposit(s). Cancellations made by the renting party within 90 days of the event will forfeit the entire deposit(s). In addition, if the renting party or individual refuses to pay all required deposits and/or pre-payments, Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area reserves the right to cancel the contract at any time prior to function date(s).


Upon signing the Group Sales contract agreement, the renting party agrees to release, hold harmless and indemnify Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, its officers, directors, agents, and employees from all liabilities, claims, expenses (including attorneys’ fees), demands, suits or costs of whatever nature for injury to, or death of any person(s) or damage, theft, loss or destruction of property arising out of or in connection with the use of Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area facilities outlined and contemplated in this agreement, including the sole negligence of Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area.
